Going the Distance: Running to the Beat

February 17, 2009 15:43 by JCahill

"He's going the distance, He's going for speed."
I have a playlist that I jog to in my 769's. Starting off mild, working up to a faster pace and then slowing at the end for a cool down period. During my most recent jog, paying special attention to lyrics from one of my favorites reminded me to post something very cool, actually 2 "somethings". First, I came across a very cool website that can map out a good pace with music if you are like me and are motivated best by rhythm. The website is jogtunes.com. You can find a great variety set up to satisfy the most eclectic tastes in music. It also explains the reasoning behind choosing a playlist with similar BPM's and so on. Very cool.
Runners note: If you are "going for speed" look into the 805. If you are "going for distance" check out the 1123.

Second something. The song that jogged my memory is as the title of this blog suggests, "Going the Distance". (I have this song and some other great ones to jog to listed below in a playlist. Starting at the top with a milder tempo, working up to a faster pace or more BPM's, Beats Per Minute.) My music and I are partners in motivating me to a steady pace. The lyrics in this particular song reminded me of another partnership with a much faster pace. NASCAR's Joe Gibbs Racing has entered a partnership with New Balance Athletic Shoe Inc. to supply the crews for each of its three Sprint Cup Series teams and two Nationwide Series teams with a specialized shoe designed specifically to improve the performance of pit crew members as they go over the wall. So New Balance will be keeping the pit crew on their toes while they keep their drivers on the road. Check out the full story here.
If you have a favorite song that motivates your pace leave a comment. I'd love to hear it!
"Because you're racing and pacing and plotting the course."

New Balance Laces Up with Susan G. Komen 20 Years and Still Running!

February 13, 2009 15:35 by JCahill

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!
New Balance proudly celebrates its 20th Anniversary of association with Susan G. Komen for the Cure. New Balance is also the longest running sponsor of the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure® Series-the world's largest and most successful education and fundraising event for breast cancer.
Below are some of my favorite pics from last year's race in Saint Louis.

In celebration of such a milestone of commitment New Balance will be introducing  a special edition 993 in pink suede! The 993 is the latest in a long line of a legacy running shoe and is a perfect match for such an honor. All special edition 993s will be manufactured in the United States. The WR993KM will debut in August 2009 with a limited number of customizable editions available for purchase in July. For all of the details check out the press release! Can't wait 'til August? You're in Luck! In April 2009 New Balance will introduce the WR769KM, deemed the official shoe of the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure®. You can discover the features and the current colors available in the 769 model here. To help you get as excited as we are about the 993KM and 769KM I have a couple pics attached below as a "sneak peak" for our lucky readers. Or if you simply cannot wait until even April you can check out some shoes and accessories currently available in the Lace Up for the Cure® series here.
Lace up with some Pink and join the cause!

If you have some favorite pics from previous races that you would like to share in a future blog send them to jessica@nbcatalog.com

Runner's World 2009 "Best Update" Award goes to...New Balance 1063

February 5, 2009 15:09 by JCahill

And you thought nothing could feel better than your 1062's!
The 1063's are on the feet hitting the streets and leaving a smile on faces all over!

Obvious cosmetic updates with advancements on the fit front as well. Built around a new last the 1063 has less volume in the forefoot with a snugger fit through the arch. Testers loved how well the upper hugged their feet providing that much needed midfoot support. No slacking on the cushioning in this update! New Balance pulled out all stops with Abzorb FL, Abzorb DTS, Abzorb SBS. Check out all the features by clicking one of the models pictured above!
Do you wish you had a say in the way your shoes were designed or how they perform?
Become a New Balance Wear Tester! Click here to apply or meet the Team!
Come back and comment to let us know how the 1063 treats you.
With the 1063, I predict a long term relationship.
